APCC Road Safety Lead welcomes progress on 2015 British road safety action plan
Alison Hernandez, APCC Road Safety Lead and PCC for Devon, Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly, has welcomed the Government’s announcement this week of the progress being made to deliver the actions under the 2015 British road safety statement and action plan, based on the four priority user groups of young people, rural road users, motorcyclists and older vulnerable users.
She also welcomed the Government’s further investment in road safety measures, all of which will contribute to cutting the number of people killed or seriously injured on our roads. She said:
“I am extremely pleased with the Department for Transport’s proposal to develop a refreshed road safety statement and action plan. Police and Crime Commissioners will play an important role in working with them and others in helping deliver the necessary action.”
“The number of people killed and seriously injured on our roads is a national problem and a huge cause for concern. Young people, rural road users and motorcyclists are over-represented in casualty figures and I am pleased to see that they are the focus of these measures.”
