Martyn Underhill was first elected in November 2012 as the Independent Police & Crime Commissioner for Dorset.
Martyn joined the Metropolitan Police in 1979, before transferring to Sussex Police in 1974. There, he reached the rank of Detective Chief Inspector, and was also commended by the then Sussex Police Authority for his work on the Sarah Payne case. He later became a Project Manager for Child Rescue alert, which was launched in 2003 alongside Sara Payne.
Martyn is the Lead of the APCC Portfolio Group on Mental Health & Custody, and Deputy Lead of the APCC Portfolio Group on Standards of Policing.
Martyn is also part of the APCC Cross-Party Brexit Working Group.
