APCC Chair David Lloyd Responds to the Lammy Review

08/09/2017

In response to the publication on the 8th September 2017 of the Lammy Review – an independent review into the treatment of and outcomes for Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) individuals in the Criminal Justice System in England and Wales – APCC Chair and PCC for Hertfordshire, David Lloyd has made the following statement:

“As Chair of the APCC, I welcome the publication of this review, and commend the comprehensive way in which it shines a light on the disproportionate representation of BAME groups in the Criminal Justice System.

“As PCCs, we will reflect carefully upon both the findings of the report and the recommendations which it makes. As part of this we will consider the role which PCCs could play going forward to ensure that the principles underpinning the report –fair treatment, trust and responsibility – are firmly embodied in the CJS, so that it operates in a way that is both equitable and worthy of the confidence of all communities”.
