Association of Police and Crime Commissioners Chair, Katy Bourne OBE said:
“Police and Crime Commissioners across England and Wales welcome the news that the recruitment of 20,000 new police officers will begin in September. These extra officers will help our police forces to cut crime and provide better outcomes for victims. We know that this is what the public want.
“I look forward to working with the Home Secretary, Ministers, Chief Constables and other partners, as part of the new national Policing Board, to ensure the successful recruitment of these new officers in our communities.”
