National Volunteers Week - Thank You

04/06/2020

A big thank you this Volunteers Week

Throughout this period of emergency, there have been some stories of selflessness, determination and community spirit that have given people hope. This has taken many forms, with individuals, businesses and other groups working together to support those who are vulnerable.

Policing, and the public, continue to benefit from incredible support from volunteers, whether they are special constables, police staff volunteers, appropriate adults, independent custody visitors, Speedwatch, Witness Care, Neighbourhood Watch, Search and Rescue, 4x4 Response, cadets, chaplains and many more.

And the current situation has seen many more volunteer to come back and support policing, which is very much appreciated.

Without all of these volunteers and groups, we would be lost - and our justice system could not function.

There is no doubt too, that the lockdown will have impacted upon the nation’s mental health. Particularly, feelings of anxiety and isolation will be playing a part as well as many other concerns. We should say thank-you to those volunteers who are supporting people with their mental health at this time and always - giving us all the opportunity to talk and receive advice and guidance.

To all volunteers supporting our country - thank you. You are appreciated.
