PCCs and Chief Constables come together to drive progress on diversity

14/11/2019

APCC EDHR Lead, David Munro and APCC Deputy EDHR Lead, Hardyal Dhindsa said:

"It was great to see representatives from Offices of Police & Crime Commissioners and forces across England and Wales come together for the APCC, College of Policing and National Police Chiefs' Council's conference on workforce diversity in policing.

"Today provided a valuable opportunity for us all to think about the steps we can take to drive forward progress on the NPCC Strategy on Diversity, Equality and Inclusion.

"Getting diversity, equality and inclusion right cuts across the totality of policing, and is key to providing effective policing for the public. Meanwhile, ensuring that the police service is representative of the communities it serves will enable us to embody the Peelian principles on which British policing is founded: that the police are the public and the public are the police."
