Public accountability and engagement
PCCs’ key responsibilities in this area are:
- Acting as a bridge between the police and the public, gathering feedback across community groups and addressing concerns
- Holding public meetings, consultations and surveys to ensure transparency and responsiveness
- Ensuring that PCCs are kept abreast of good practice in relation to holding their chief constables to account and so improve trust and confidence in policing
To support this work, the APCC provides topical briefings and other resources for members and hosts regular workshops.
