Rupert Matthews, Leicestershire PCC

Rupert Matthews was elected as the new Police and Crime Commissioner for Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland following the elections in May 2021.

He says that the role of a PCC is a great job, particularly meeting local communities and finding out what their priorities are and how the police can support them and prevent crime.

"I want the police to be visible in local communities and for the public to feel that they can approach them. I want the uniform of a police officer to became as familiar as that of a postman.

"I want the people of Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland not just to be safer but to feel safer too as the fear of crime can be just as debilitating as crime itself."
