APCC Chair welcomes announcement of Front Line Review
Responding to the Home Secretary’s speech to the Police Federation and news that the Home Office is to launch a Front Line Review into policing, APCC Chair David Lloyd said:
“I was extremely encouraged by the tone of the Home Secretary’s speech to the Police Federation. It is clear that he is listening and is intent on resetting the relationship between the Government and the Police, whilst ensuring that they are given the tools and powers to do the job.
“As part of this new approach, Police and Crime Commissioners will be engaging with a Front Line review of policing. We will be working with the Policing Minister and experts – within and beyond policing – to shape the work of the review to ensure it takes into account innovative ideas from the frontline and identifies barriers to change.
“PCCs are well placed to help drive this review forward and I will be working hard with colleagues, supporting this important review, to ensure that local innovation is captured and the views of front line police officers are fed in to inform future policing policy and practice.”
