APCC response to Cornavirus measures
APCC Chair, Katy Bourne OBE said:
“These are unprecedented times and, in order to save lives, we must all play our part. Whilst I recognise that people are making huge sacrifices, the scientific evidence is clear, by staying at home we can save lives.
“We are rightly proud of our policing by consent model in this country but there is no doubt that there will be significant challenges for policing in the weeks ahead. PCCs, Chief Constables and policing partners will be working closely with government and local authorities to ensure that people and businesses comply with these new measures. Whilst there will need to be effective enforcement of this approach, it is through public consent and support that we can ensure these measures have the desired effect and ultimately lives are saved.”
