APCC Serious Violence Lead responds to Keeping Kids Safe report
APCC lead for Serious Violence, PCC Mark Burns-Williamson said:
“Police and Crime Commissioners have an important role to play in shaping partnership working focused on tackling serious violence and helping to keep our young people safe.
“There is evidence that models targeting early intervention are effective in tackling the root causes of serious violence, particularly those that identify and support children and young people who have been exposed to adverse childhood experiences and in many cases are not in mainstream education.
“We have been clear that a well co-ordinated and structured multi-agency, cross-government approach to cracking down on serious violence and better protecting young people is essential if better outcomes are to be achieved and further harm prevented.”
