APCC supports National Neighbourhood Watch Week
Neighbourhood Watch is providing new, practical information and help for its members to support the police in the detection and reduction of high-harm crimes.
This week will see Neighbourhood Watch volunteers across England and Wales prepare to celebrate National Neighbourhood Watch Week 2018 (#NNWW18) – the charity’s annual week of social action – which this year runs from June 16-24.
Alun Michael, APCC Lead for Citizens in Policing and Police and Crime Commissioner for South Wales, said: “National Neighbourhood Watch Week provides a great opportunity to thank all Neighbourhood Watch volunteers for the contribution they make to the safety of our communities.
“Without their contribution, and that of all the other volunteers in and around policing, our police service would be vastly diminished. This is also an opportunity to welcome the launch of the Neighbourhood Watch Network Crime and Vulnerability Toolkits. The potential for the Neighbourhood Watch Network to reduce the misery caused by crimes such as domestic abuse, modern slavery, child sexual exploitation and fraud is significant, and we welcome this initiative.”

The Neighbourhood Watch Network new Crime and Vulnerability Toolkits can be accessed here and provide information on the following areas:
- Domestic Abuse – which we know affects all communities
- Serious Violence – particularly knife crime
- Vulnerability and loneliness – affecting more people as families become more mobile
- Fraud and scams – electronic and traditional
- High harm crimes – including Modern Slavery and Child Sexual Exploitation.
