Employers’ Side of the Police Staff Council – APCC Comment
Ron Hogg, Police, Crime and Victims’ Commissioner for Durham and Chair of the Employers’ Side of the Police Staff Council in response to the PSC Trade Unions recommending rejection of the 2017/8 pay offer:
“It’s very disappointing that the trade unions have recommended rejection of the pay offer for police staff.
“As an Employers’ Side we believed it was really important that the offer we made to police staff was fair and matched the pay award recently made to police officers in recognition of the huge contribution they make to the policing service.
“We wanted to recognise this despite the police officer pay award, and the offer we have made to police staff, being unfunded and beyond the 1% budgeted for pay by police forces in line with previous public sector pay policy.
“We do believe this offer is fair to police staff and it is at the absolute limits of affordability for police forces. We would urge the police staff trade unions to reconsider the merits of this offer and seek a timely resolution to the 2017/8 pay negotiations.”
