Report highlights challenges policing faces in delivering neighbourhood policing
Responding to the publication of the Future of Neighbourhood Policing report published by the Police Foundation, APCC Lead for Local Policing and Partnerships, Keith Hunter PCC said:
“I welcome this study by the Police Foundation which highlights the challenges policing faces in delivering neighbourhood policing alongside wider local policing and other growing demands on the service. The findings and suggested principles will be a useful tool together with the recent work led by the College of Policing in producing Neighbourhood Policing Guidelines. This recent work has re-emphasised the importance of Neighbourhood Policing remaining as the core and bedrock of policing.
“Whilst the challenges faced by forces and constabularies in attempting to meet competing and growing demands cannot be over-emphasised, this report provides a timely reminder that Neighbourhood Policing should not be considered an anomaly in a digital world but as key component of a police service capable of meeting the needs of all of our communities.”
