Dame Vera Baird QC, Victims' Commissioner for England & Wales
Dame Vera Baird QC is the Victims' Commissioner for England and Wales and was part of the Day One opening session: 'Violence against women and girls'. This session addressed some uncomfortable issues around male violence and attitudes towards women and girls and how the police are tackling it. It provoked a lot of searching questions and a dynamic debate.
Dame Vera was joined on stage by Andrea Simon, Director, End Violence Against Women and Deputy Chief Constable Maggie Blyth, NPCC Lead for Violence against Women and Girls.
